SUMMARY
Upright:
The Emperor in any reading is a powerful sign of clear solutions and answers within your spread, usually pointing toward a prominent subject that requires more effort and attention than you currently give.
This card represents a person, situation, or yourself, who marries passion with ambition, to form great purpose in what they do. They are level-headed, and while strategic and measured, always listens to their heart for the final say. They are fearless and enjoy confronting problems to challenge themselves in finding creative solutions. They are masters at resourcefulness, and if they can't find a way, they'll make one.
In some cases, this card can be seen as one of victory. Though, this card is not a destination, so much as it is an achieved mental state or learned expertise. This card may also represent a father-figure, a boss, a philanthropist, or someone with the power and means to take care of all their own and others' needs. They are someone you can feel safe and protected with, who will offer an ear or guidance if you ask for it.
Reversed:
If you read reversals, receiving the Emperor in reverse can denote a person with or the general presence of the abuse of imbalanced power and the overstepping of boundaries. It is a cautionary sign that a living or work situation or relationship has long been progressing south, and the harm resulting it is not worth its perceived benefits. Use the cards around this one for context on which end you might be on.
The reversed Emperor can also represent someone unfit for their position, labels, reputation, or responsibilities, whether due to a mismatch of goals, overwhelm due to immaturity, addictions, anger mismanagement, or failure to self-reflect. Individuals represented by this card in this position cannot be changed or helped by anyone else, as they would be the types that would have to come to the conclusion themselves.

✦ Darqprism Tarot: the Emperor ✦
Danyal, the Dragon King

Keywords: power, strength, versatility, trust, transformation, mysticism, conquering nightmares.
About this Card:
In the Darqprism Tarot Collection, the Emperor card is represented by my original character Danyal, the Dragon King, who was derived from a dream. in this dream, he is a very powerful and fearsome but lonely and love-scorn King, fallen and with no subjects of his own. He is in the Emperor card not for his literal position as King, but because he embodies both the evil and noble tendencies of man. At first, he was a bloodthirsty destroyer and conqueror, until he met his downfall, which revealed the source of his rage. Facing his loneliness, he realizes what makes him King is not power but the responsibility of caring for his former subjects, and he turns a new leaf to protect and adopt a kingless kingdom under his wing.
Because Danyal can change forms between human and dragon at will, his card also represents transformation, versatility, and being multi-faceted in order to triumph in your battles.
Compared to the Traditional Card:
Danyal's version of the Emperor is more intense and more often treading toxic even while possessing his positive traits. He does embody all of the positives that the traditional Emperor does, though it is usually a long time coming, well earned, and more difficult to undo success once obtained.
Reflecting on this card:
Violet is not only a regal color for its rarity - it is also the color with the shortest wavelength, the highest frequency, and tunes into our divine connections. Only when we allow ourselves to be shrouded in night can we truly see what shines within us. When we crave destruction - whether someone else’s or our own - it is time to find a new subject of thirst, one that leaves room for both ourselves and others to thrive at its center together.
Unique Symbolism:
-
Purple/Violet: the mystical, divine connection
-
gem necklace: precious things protected, wealth, rarity.
-
Blood: passion, rigor, vitality
-
Fangs: ambition, pursuit, strength
-
Wings: oversight, omnipresence
-
Pointed ears: listening to the signs
-
Night: courage against unseen threats

-
